Blog Search Engine Optimization

November 12, 2009 · Posted in Building A Blog

Blogging has become a prime media for sharing ideas, communicating on the Internet and generating interest or buzz traffic to websites. The latter is what really interests us in an online marketing perspective. By building a blog that provides useful information, you can gain following of readers who visit and subscribe to your articles. From this reader base, you can create permission based contact lists or provide links to products, services and other websites. However, even if you have the best blog in the world, if no one is able to find your blog you will be writing it for an audience of one (you!). So, how do you get people to visit your blog and read your articles? You need to make your blog as easy to find as possible! You can easily increase the traffic to your blog by following four steps: 1. You need to make sure your blog articles are Search Engine Optimized (SEO) or at least search engine compliant. This means adding in Keywords into the Meta Tags for your blog and by writing content rich articles that leave the HTML links until the very bottom (known as the Resources section).

2. Submit Your blog articles to other blog sites and article sharing websites. The most popular article submission site is ezinearticles.com. You will need to make sure your articles conform to their rules, but they will share your article with their high-traffic visitors and you can include a link to your blog in the Resource section of the article. 3. Make sure your blog is indexed! This means having your blog “pinged” and “crawled” by sites that index blog websites. This makes your blog articles easier to find for both their subscribers and other search engines that use them to find useful and key-word matching articles. Here are some recommended free Blog Index and Ping sites:

Register with blog search engines and check your rating on these engines. This will let you try different meta tags and blog postings to try and get your blog articles listed as high in search result ranking as possible. Having a first page ranking is very important. • Whether you re an experienced blogger or an absolute beginner, you can make money with your blog. Simply follow the step-by-step advice of two expert bloggers and industry insiders who have launched many successful sites of their own. They ll walk you through every step of the blogging process, and they ll even share their most profitable tricks of the trade. I picked up this book based upon its cover, but there is nothing in it about career building through blogging. Rather, it reads like an introduction to blogging, but without a clear audience. The paltry offerings seemed to be aimed at older readers unfamiliar with the web, but the content is written in an overly simplistic style, as if for young teens. Robert C. Walker's review echoes my thoughts: don't waste your time or money on this book. This digital document is an article from Indiana Business Magazine, published by Thomson Gale on August 1, 2007. The length of the article is 1407 words. The page length shown above is based on a typical 300-word page.
